If doing as a class exercise then, insert orange pencil into compasses and set radius at 5cm. Draw 1st cirlce.

Draw 2nd circle concentric to it with a radius of 6cm.

If using template, download template and work directly with it OR trace onto art paper.

Segmenting Circles
Step 2: Segmenting Circles

Disregard this step if you are using the template.

  1. Using ruler and protractor draw 1st line through the centre of the cirle from top to bottom using black coloured pencil.
  2. Now draw the second across the middle of the circle which is now divided into 4.
  3. Using your protractor, measure 30degrees all around the outside edge and mark lightly with pencil.
  4.  Connect the corresponding points, making sure the ruler goes through the centre of the circle. The pin point from the compasses will help you determine this.) You have now divided the circle into 12.
  5.  Well done.
Colouring The Circles
Step 3: Colouring The Circles
  1. Take your orange FLIPTEZ and tip a little onto every second segment of the inner circle. Colour using applicator and rub hard.
  2. Now take the yellow FLIPTEZ and repeat the process for the uncoloured segments of the inner circle.
  3. On the outer circle, repeat this process using the opposite colour to the shaded inner circle.
  4. Take up the compasses again and redraw the original orange circles just to give a sharp outline. (Not necessary if using the template)
