Step 1: Colour and then cut out Template
  1. Colour the face of the bird blue and the head  with green FLIPTEZ.
  2.  Use matching pencil and ruler to define lines on the head.
  3. Colour the body with blue FLIPTEZ.
  4. Define body with aqua pencil (Or green) lines drawn with a ruler. These simulate feathers.
  5. Colour the beak with red FLIPTEZ or a red pencil.
  6. We cut out two birds and coloured them both so we could hide the tissue, skewer or legs and cone feathers between the two.
  7. Cut tissue by hand as shown in the finished image. This is simply done. We cut 10 pieces for the tail feathers from blue and green and alternated them before gluing.
  8. For the top feathers, cut four pieces from the yellow tissue and glue in place.
  9. Cut four smaller feathers for the tummy of the bird from the cream tissue. Glue in place.
  10. Cut out the cone free hand from black card or coloured black paper. Glue in place.
  11. Place skewer in place and then glue 2nd bird in place to make the backing.
  12. Glue eyes in place.
  13. We popped a few eyelashes onto the bird with a small tipped texta marker.
  14. A collection of these birds makes a great talking point in the classrooom , but an individual one freamed is fabulous.
