<ins></ins><ins>Children as we know, develop in stages. There are scores of psychologists that have documented the various stages that children go through in different areas of their development. Piaget, one of the most famous ones has greatly documented how children develop in the cognitive areas. He did thousands of tests with children to discover how children think and how they learn best. He laid out his findings in many books that helped all of the early great early childhood educators develop curriculum based on his findings. Due to his work many teachers will not do cookie cutter art projects anymore but, spend more time looking for collage project ideas that much more closely mirror developmental norms.</ins>

<ins>A second psychologist named Erickson was instrumental in discovering the psychosocial stages of children relating to their social and emotional development. He discovered that there are 8 stages of man and divides his stages starting at birth and going up through adulthood. Erickson’s work was also a big help to early childhood educators as they were also able to learn how to better deal with their young charges.</ins>

<ins>Another person that was involved in discovering stages in children was Rhoda Kellogg. She discover the drawing development in children and stages it goes through. It seems that children’s drawings seem to mirror their development in other areas. As they need go grow and develop their fine motor coordination they cannot hold pencils or crayons very well in the beginning. The start out with scribbles, then go to making almost stick figure people and then gradually start making more representational pieces of artwork. The same way you can’t make a child walk before he is ready, you cannot force a child to draw actual times before they are developmentally ready to do so. Children develop at different stages in all areas of their lives and we have to work with where they are.</ins>

Coloured powders bring new medium to art world.

Experimenting with colour is one of the delights of childhood and indeed continues to bring pleasure in adulthood. Creating your own, ‘new colour’ stimulates and adds enrichment to the current art work in progress.

EzyShaid® Colour have developed a product called FLIPTEZ® which contains eleven colours and black and white in the form of coloured powders which can be mixed or blended into at least 140 new shades. The powders can be blended in blending pots or sprinkled onto the paper and blended by hand or with the applicator supplied. The finished effect is like coloured pencil work except, that the colours are applied evenly, making even the most junior of artist’s work appear crisp and appealing.

Dry shading is not the only use of these coloured powders. A small amount of powder in a little pot, sprayed with water turns it into a delightful water colour medium. While the paint will dry out after some time, a spray with water reactivates it into water colour. It does not corrupt and is very economical.

Some artists have added the powders to acrylic paint to form an interesting finish or texture to their work. Yet others have used them in conjunction with Versa Mark watermark stamp pads to make stunning stamped work or with the Versa Marker pens to create very impressive title pages or greeting cards.

Major murals were completed with FLIPTEZ® at Art Melbourne 2011(750 children contributed to a 3mx1m mural) and at the School Education Expo (over 800 hundred children contributed to a 3mx1.2 mural) held at the Sydney Olympic Park. Each mural, while covered in colour, used less than one pack of FLIPTEZ®. On both occasions cameras clicked as proud parents enthused over their children’s work.

Why not get creative this weekend and add some colour to your life and to the lives of others?

How do you get over 800 children to complete a 4metre mural in two days with only three adults supervising?

It’s all in the product you use and the planning. Creative Director of EzyShaid® Colour, Sharon Bull pre designed a fabulous mural based on the theme of education and school for the School Education Expo at the Sydney Olympic Park. Her team had pre- cut geckoes, fruits, crocodiles, sporting equipment, letter, numbers, musical instruments and notes for the children to colour or paint using FLIPTEZ®. Some of the pieces were superimposed with stamps making very interesting, individual art pieces. These were then affixed to the skeletal design.

Sharon had strands of fluid, multi-coloured lines to simulate the brain’s ability to absorb ideas and link one thought process with another. Some of the objects projected from the mural causing a wonderful 3D effect. Children were able to showcase their talents by completing the , ”Once upon a time..” story tablets. Each child who chose one of these tablets on which to write and decorate continued the story, ending with a great climax, Hollywood style!

Modern technology was not forgotten nor was the chalkboard or white board as the children decorated and coloured images for the mural. Every participating child signed their name between the fluid lines further progressing the concept that we work better as a team and that we need each other. Of course it also placed value and importance on every child’s contribution.

As the expo was held over the weekend that included the Australian Fathers’ Day, the children were invited to make a card for dad as they waited for their turn on the mural. It was a joy to see so many children totally absorbed in what they were doing and working quietly and well. The general consensus was, that a more well behaved and involved group of children would be hard to find. It can be done!

Please visit www.ezyshaid.com or the Ezyhaid® Colour facebook page to view the completed work. You may also be interested to see the Indigenous mural completed by 750 children at Art Melbourne 2011 earlier this year.

While I was driving this morning, I heard the parents of Morgan Inness ,( Australia’s promising ice skating star, killed tragically in a boating accident in, 2007) being interviewed by Richard Fidler.
It reminded me once again, just how many Dads would be going to their keepsake drawers and taking out a token card or gift their precious child had made. Not the traditional hug and kisses, or friendly tormenting for dads who have lost a child. A big ache and a brave face for the family is what these dads carry with them. To all dads we say,
HAPPY FATHERS” DAY!
We are thinking of you and hope that everyone around you makes your day fabulous, but we do have a special place for bereaved fathers.
Come on kids, get creative. Show Dad how much you care about him. Here’s a simple thing you could do.
1)	Cut out a circle and draw Dad’s face on it.
2)	On the back of the circle, 8cm apart glue 2 pieces of ribbon1cm wide and 20cm long.(If you don’t have ribbon, use pretty paper)
3)	On a piece of plain paper or directly onto paddle-pop sticks write some brilliant titles for dad. (NB If you don’t have paddle- pop sticks, just use cardboard or thick paper.
4)	” You’re the best”, “Super Dad”,” Great Mate”,” Best footie player” ”, I love you Dad, “You care”. Etc
5)	If you wrote on paper ,cut out the titles
6)	Paste on to paddle- pop sticks
7)	Now paste sticks on the ribbons to make a ladder. Now, made very simply if you can’t buy anything, dad still has a great gift from YOU.
9)	Remember, it’s being told you are loved that is the important thing, not the cost of the gift.
All the best from the, EzyShaid® Colour Team.

Teachers and principals in Special Needs’ schools immediately saw the potential of FLIPTEZ® for their students.
Teachers of Special Needs’ children are exceptional people, devoted to providing the best educational practices and offering the most helpful resources to the children in their charge. To see these remarkable educationalists being spurred on by specialist speakers was a privilege as they spend so much of their time and energy giving to others.
Children diagnosed with autism, Asberger’s Syndrome, Downe Syndrome and cerebral palsy have shared the satisfaction and pleasure of being able to successfully colour with FLIPTEZ®, the unique shading powders. Once shown how simply children could use FLIPTEZ® for stamping, shading and painting, the EzyShaid® Colour stand was surrounded by teachers who were delighted to see a product especially designed to assist the children they teach.
EzyShaid® Colour look forward to the ASSE conference at the Gold Coast in Queensland during September where they hope the Queensland teachers and principals will be as delighted as their contemporaries in the other states.
Of course the real joy is in hearing from the children or their parents or receiving some of their artwork. They are inspirational!
Remember we all benefit from creative exercises and art and craft are therapeutic for able as well as disabled people. Don’t overlook a hobby which could change your life. Take time out to use or discover your creative talents. Visit www.ezyshaid.com for inspirational ideas.

Therapists were wowed by the ease with which people of all ages could shade, paint and stamp using FLIPTEZ®. Rob reported that stamping and making wonderfully creative cards was particularly popular as was the shading in of pictures from the EzyShaid® free downloads.
Pictures include both fantasy and school curriculum themes. They are appropriate for people of all ages as they include scenes of the Sydney Opera House, the Blue Mountains and the Botanic Gardens in Wollongong. Always popular is the Sea View Bridge and scenes around the Murray River.
From just 13 colours over 140 tones can be made and used to paint and shade. These little bottles of,’ colouring magic’ have found their way to hospitals and centres all over Australia. The more the therapists saw of them, the more they liked them and purchased FLIPTEZ®for their clients’ use.
If you haven’t tried them, then please see www.ezyshaid.com for a comprehensive teaching session on their use. You’ll be looking at a product that came 3rd in the world in 2009!
EzyShaid ®Colour was delighted to be chosen to exhibit at this conference as it was limited to only 10 exhibitors!

Every day we hear stories of the bravery of the human spirit and will, but when you come face to face with such bravery it is overwhelming.

Michelle, who has movement only in the elbow of her right arm and this she uses to propel her wheel chair. She watched a staff member shading in with FLIPTEZ® by EzyShaid® Colour and said,

“I can do that.”

Using a tool held in her mouth she indicated how she would use FLIPTEZ® as her new hobby. She was thrilled to add a new medium to her collection of art materials. The patience required to colour this way is daunting! We salute you Michelle and know your efforts will be beautiful.

Such was the impression made by FLIPTEZ® that one teacher drove over an hour just to Fair in Adelaide, but couldn’t miss the chance of purchasing as soon as possible for the very special children in her care.

Have a wonderful Easter and colour your day!
